The Looming Flames
A modest town, home to approximately three hundred residents. The town was built on the western banks of the Selintan River and along with its counterpart on the eastern bank, One Ford, is one of the final ports before the river ends in The Woolly Bay.
The town was founded by a group of citizens from One Ford. This group was comprised mostly of merchants that were struggling to gain a foothold economically as their families were younger. Realizing that the river trade was dominated by those firmly entrenched in it, this group crossed the river and founded a settlement in hopes of establishing better land trade with the settlements in the Gnarley Woods to the north, as well as the settlements along the North Route to the west. Many others soon followed and established the farm that dot the landscape around Crossford.
Initially relations were very tense between the two towns, but as time passed grudges died off and fences were mended. Some still harbor ill will towards those that left but the burgeoning trade that Crossford is able to offer has kept it simmering beneath the surface.
